Nebraska Brewing Company Wick for Brains Pumpkin Ale Commercial Description:

“Nebraska Brewing Company Wick for Brains Pumpkin Ale is our classic and painstakingly produced Fall Pumpkin Ale.  Instead of simply using spice, we use real pumpkin which lends a sweetness and pumpkin flavor not found in many Pumpkin Ales. Wonderful pumpkin pie spice intertwined in an Amber Ale creates a pumpkin sensation which is elegantly crafted.  Notes of Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Clove, Ginger and Allspice blend perfectly in this seasonal Ale. There are many Pumpkin Ales out there crafted by some wonderful breweries – we feel that Nebraska Brewing Company Wick for Brains Pumpkin Ale stands among them and in some cases – stands apart.”

I love graham crackers.

More specifically, I love s’mores. I love s’mores made on the campfire, with their ooey gooey insides that get all over your fingers when you bite into such a treat. The soft melty chocolate. The crunch of the graham cracker.

The last time I had s’mores was 3 months ago. It’s not a treat I enjoy that often- because I hate camping. Haaaaaate camping. I go camping on my friend’s land in Pennsylvania, and she lets me crash in her camper. I cheat, because I hate camping.

Anyway the last time I had s’mores, I had just watched my friend leap across the firepit and begin smacking another friend of ours, over a money issue. I didn’t know what to do. It had reached the point in every late evening, where 2 or 3 am rolls around and there is magically drama. I could run over and break the fight up. Or, I could eat some s’mores.

And so I chose for gooey goodness. I regret nothing.

The point of this story is, I love graham cracker smell. It makes me think of s’mores. And (to me anyway) this beer smells like graham crackers. I wanted to give the Aroma rating higher than a 6 for Nebraska Brewing Company Wick for Brains Pumpkin Ale, but the other reviewers stopped me, because they did not smell anything remotely like graham crackers coming from this beer…but I swear. It’s there.

The evil pumpkin label gets a high score for individuality, we all enjoyed it. I like the light airy feel in the mouth- several tasters reported that it tasted like air to them, like nothing at all. Hints of spices are detected on the taste buds, this beer is definitely more spicy than the last few we had tried on this particular evening. Nebraska Brewing Company Wick for Brains Pumpkin Ale posses a clear golden color, and a crisp refreshing taste, with little or no aftertaste.

And a graham cracker aroma.
