“Do I look like my photo?” I said with a large grin as I slid into the empty bar stool next to my date.

She broke out into a soft laugh, grateful that the ice was broken in such a charming way. At least that’s what I told myself as we both looked each other up and down. She wore a dress, indicative that she tried at the very least. Perfect. Then I promptly order a Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale.

I approach online dating the same way I approach beer drinking. There is a lot of variety out there and I am open to trying out every flavor at least once. Most of the hard ‘no’s’ that I have had in my life have reversed, so I try not to be so strict about my likes and dislikes. I have found that, in crafting my life, extreme opinions lead to self-fulfilling prophesies. And the truth is that I love beer and I love women and there are a lot of options that satisfy.

What I’ve learned is that you need balance in a partner and you need balance in a beer. Without trying a bunch of stuff, you’ll never know what you like. The Rogue beer is balanced. The spice to malt ratio is perfect. The pumpkin isn’t overpowering. It feels good to drink in public. These are types of qualities I am looking for in a partner. A balance between masculinity and femininity, ambition and beauty, independence and vulnerability.  None of these qualities should overpower the other, and we should be proud to be out in public together.

Rogue Pumpkin Patch ale is a fun beer to drink. I felt confident holding the bright orange bottle and this unique look was quite the conversation piece. Great night, great company, great beer. Rogue Pumpkin Patch is a perfect wingman.
