T

here is a sadness that lingers throughout my persona. No, no not the slow descent into middle age. It’s the stench of Jets Football that lingers.

That is why, and I truly mean this, the Jets first W that came on Thursday night saved the season. Yeah, I know. The season is 10 days old.  But still, it’s not an exaggeration. After a heartbreaking W1 loss to Cinci, and the disappointing taste of imploding to the Bills in week 17 still permeating in my psyche, it was nice to finally beat Rex Ryan.

And it wasn’t pretty. Fitzpatrick, whom was 1 – 8 against a Ryan defense before the game, seemed poised to a 4th quarter meltdown. An injury time out to Marshall had me yelp in class, where I was streaming the game on my phone during a lesson on spreadsheet modeling. And Revis? GOT TORCHED.

But sometime you have to be bold. And watching Fitzpatrick march down the field of a diabolical defensive genius is what it’s like to drink Samuel Adams Fat Jack Double Pumpkin. This beer is a statement.

The beer is as full bodies as the defensive line. The balance of cinnamon and ginger is the balance of the offensive and defensive line. The warmness you feel after sip parallels the smugness of a win. The limited release of this brew reflects the limited wins against Ryan.

And just like the Jets, Fat Jack delivers and satisfies.
